Coastal Clearance Day

Thank you for helping

It was a great success

Here's a message from harbour group Chairman, Lee Brown

"the Coastal Clearance was a great day in what was the first step of involving the community and other groups within Portgordon to be involved with helping P.C.H.G continue with its aims. I was delighted with the kids showing up and lending a hand they enjoyed the day, everyone who turned up was doing something from litter picking to painting, weeding etc. The Harbour basin was well cleaned out with the use of a quad bike and trailer the skip was filled with all sort includings ropes, tires, creels, old bikes, plastic bottles etc. The Beach line was also given a great clean out with the litter pickers it was a great success and the Harbour looks great. I honestly am lost for words with the turn out, there is still more to be done with installations of the life rings which will be within the next 2 weeks. There is work to be under taken from the crown estate after the walk around inspection later this week."

"The pictures of the Coastal Clearance will be a great way to show the work undertaken there is great support out there and we will continue to carry out the goals set to bring new life back into the Harbour and make it the proud focal point of Portgordon. There was great support in the catering side from the Harbour we had a tent set up with a extensive spread of sandwiches, sweets, crisps, juice, and home bakes. This was done by Mrs I Brown on behalf of Mr G Brown MFV Solstice. Kay did a great spread of home bakes with tea and coffee from the Lampie House, Kenny Gunn also helped out with extra first aid kits and extra bright colour jackets. Rainer Hebert was in full swing with the quad bike using it to drag heavy submerged tryes from the harbour also anchors, tangled ropes, submerged creels. he also collected tryes stacked on the beach along with the bags from the litter pickers."

"A real tremendous day of good hard work and community spirit shown by all"

"Thank you everyone"
